Jacob Wark Transfers to Join Beaver Nation

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jacob Wark has joined the Oregon State football program as a transfer from California, head coach Mike Riley announced on Tuesday.

Wark, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end from Tualatin, Ore., will be immediately eligible after graduating with a degree in American studies from Cal in May.

A three-year letterwinner at Cal, Wark played 37 games with seven career starts with the Golden Bears. In 2013, he recorded two receptions for eight yards, including a 1-yard touchdown against the Beavers.

Upon his arrival, Wark is set to join an experienced cast of tight ends that includes returning starters Connor Hamlett and Caleb Smith as well as junior Kellen Clute and senior Tyler Perry. True freshman Ryan Nall rounds out the position group.

Out of Jesuit High School, Wark was ranked as the nation’s No. 38 tight end by Scout, No. 40 according to Rivals and No. 41 by ESPN. He was considered by Rivals as the No. 6 overall player from the state of Oregon, while Scout ranked him at No. 8. He earned first team All-State at defensive end as a senior and second team as a tight end.

A two-sport athlete, Wark was also a prep baseball standout earning first team All-Metro League honors as a first baseman as a senior and was taken in the 38th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. He played outfield and first base all four years for the Golden Bears.

Oregon State returns to the practice field in preparation for the upcoming season Aug. 4 with the season opener Aug. 30 at Reser Stadium against Portland State.
