SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Arizona State track and field’s junior Shelby Houlihan bested her own school record in the 800m run on Thursday, running 2:01.90 at the USATF Outdoor Championships at Hornet Stadium.
Houlihan (Sioux City, Iowa) placed fourth in her heat and fifth overall to qualify for Friday’s semifinals, which is scheduled for 8:09 p.m. PT.
This marks the third time Houlihan set ASU’s school record in the 800m, with the previous best time coming in the semifinals of last season’s USATF Championships in 2:02.63.
Former Sun Devil Jordan Clarke competed in the shot put competition on Wednesday, qualifying in the prelims with a throw of 19.93m (65-4.75). In the finals, Clarke placed sixth overall with a best throw of 20.06m (65-9.75).
