Cal QB, 49ers fan Jared Goff looking forward to playing at Levi's Stadium

Jul 23, 2014

LOS ANGELES – A lot of national attention has been given to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, as the new site of the Pac-12 Football Championship Game. For good reason, too, with its state-of-the-art amenities and what have you.

But before we get to Dec. 5, we have Oct. 24. That’s when Cal and Oregon play in the first-ever college football game at the San Francisco 49ers’ new stadium.

As great of an experience as that will be in itself, it has extra meaning to Cal quarterback Jared Goff, a lifelong 49ers fan.

“It will be really cool. I’m excited for it. I’m excited to get a chance to play in an NFL stadium,” said Goff, who told 49ers.com in a Q&A earlier this year that he wears the number 16 because of Joe Montana.

He had the chance to attend the final 49ers game at Candlestick Park in 2013, a memory he won’t soon forget.

“I was at the game last year when NaVorro Bowman picked that ball off against the Falcons and ran it all the way back,” Goff said. “That’s probably [my] greatest memory there. That was one of the best plays at Candlestick, and it just happened.”

Come Oct. 24 it'll be Goff's turn to make a memory.
