Arizona State honors coach Herb Sendek for 400 career victories

Dec 13, 2014

Arizona State men's basketball coach Herb Sendek picked up win No. 401 of his career on Saturday when his Sun Devils handed Pepperdine an 81-74 loss in Tempe. But the school had a small celebration on the court before the game, as athletic director Ray Anderson gave Sendek a custom-made basketball to commemorate his 400th career victory.

With ASU's 77-55 win against UNLV on Dec. 3, the 51-year-old Sendek became the third-youngest college basketball coach to reach the 400-win mark, behind UCLA's Steve Alford and Florida's Billy Donovan. It's worth noting that Sendek was an assistant coach at Providence when Donovan was a college player in the 80s, while Alford is now Sendek's Pac-12 rival in Westwood.
