Pac-12 announces weekly gymnastics honors

Jan 12, 2015

San Francisco – The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 women’s gymnastics weekly honors for the week of Jan. 4-11. UTAH’s Tory Wilson was named the Gymnast of the Week, ARIZONA’s Jessie Sisler was voted Specialist of the Week, and STANFORD’s Elizabeth Price was selected as the Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.

The Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year in 2014, Tory Wilson is off to a strong start in her senior season. In Utah’s season-opening meet with BYU, Wilson won the all-around (39.450), vault (9.925) and floor (9.900) to lead the Utes to their best season-opening score in 10 years and a 196.900-193.350 win. Wilson also scored 9.800 as Utah’s leadoff on beam and scored a 9.825 on the bars.

Arizona junior Jessie Sisler earned Specialist of the Week honors for her work on the beam in the Wildcats season-opening loss at No. 4 Alabama. Sisler won first place on the beam with a score of 9.950, a personal-best score on the event.

Stanford freshman Elizabeth Price earned Freshman/Newcomer of the week honors for her performance in the NorCal Classic at San Jose State on Jan. 4. A 2012 U.S. Olympic Team alternate, Price claimed individual victories in both of her events, scoring 9.925 on bars and 9.850 on vault. Her two meet-best routines helped Stanford claim its first victory of the season and Price’s first as a collegiate gymnast. Price has claimed victories in all three of the events she’s competed in so far this season.

A gymnast of the week has been selected every week of the season since 2001. The Specialist of the Week award was added in 2008. It is the third year for Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.
