SEATTLE – Washington and Oregon State accounted for 28 runs on 27 hits and 15 walks Monday night in a slugfest that saw both teams use six combined pitchers, but in the end the Huskies outlasted the Beavers for a 17-11 victory to win the series.

Washington improves to 39-14 overall, 10-10 in the Pac-12 with its win while Oregon State now is 26-25 on the year, 5-19 in the conference after its loss.

For the third time this season, Washington scored a season-high 17 runs in the contest, scoring multiple runs in all but one frame.

Kasey Stanchek (14-3) earned the win. Casey Stangel, Ali Aguilar and Trysten Melhart each had three hits for Washington while four Huskies drove in multiple runs: Stangel (5), Melhart (2), Courtney Gano (2) and Jennie McNeill (2). Aguilar also scored a trio of runs.

Despite two quick strikeouts by Stanchek to open the contest, Oregon State took the game's first lead, hitting a two-out solo home run in the first. The Huskies responded scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Senior Kylee Lahners drew a walk before Aguilar was hit-by-pitch and the pair advanced off junior Kimberlee Souza's groundout. Stangel then chopped a single up the middle to score the pair for a 2-1 Husky lead.

Oregon State reclaimed the lead in the second, hitting a leadoff single before a two-run home run in the next at-bat gave the Beavers a 3-2 edge. However, Washington scored two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. After Kelli Suguro reached on an error, Melhart walked and the pair advanced off a groundout. Lahners then delivered her 45th RBI of the season, as her groundout scored Suguro and in the next at-bat, freshman Taylor Van Zee singled to plate Melhart.

Oregon State drew a trio of walks and scored off an RBI groundout to tie the game in the third, but the Huskies went on to plate four runs to take the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning. Souza extended her hitting streak to seven games, singling up the middle to start the rally. A walk and an error loaded the bases with one out before Melhart delivered a two-RBI single to give the Huskies a 6-4 lead. McNeill followed with a two-run single of her own to propel the Dawgs to an 8-4 lead.

To start the top of the fourth, the Huskies brought in junior pitcher Hailey Bator. Oregon State drew a one-out walk before a double put a pair on. Bator registered a strikeout for the second out but the Beavers scored two runs off a double and trailed by just two, 8-6.

In the bottom of the fifth, Van Zee and Aguilar hit back-to-back singles and Souza drew a walk to load the bases for Stangel, who drove a single to left and an error on the play cleared the bases to give the Huskies an 11-6 lead. Gano then hit her 18th home run in the next at-bat and Washington took a 13-6 lead through five innings.

Oregon State scored five runs on three hits in the sixth to get back to within two runs, 13-11. After a pair of one-out walks and a single loaded the bases, OSU singled and drew a bases loaded walk to score a pair. With the bases still loaded, a triple brought home three more runs. Stangel then entered the circle for Washington with two-outs and promptly retired the next batter.

The Husky bats responded again in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs on three hits and three errors. Lahners started the rally, drawing her third walk of the game and Van Zee reached on an error. Aguilar then hit her third single of the day to score Lahners. An RBI groundout by Souza plated Van Zee and Stangel's single into left was misplayed, allowing Aguilar to score. Stangel, who advanced to second on the error, eventually scored off another Beaver error to give the Huskies a 17-11 edge.

Oregon State hit a leadoff single in the seventh, but Stangel and the Husky defense retired the next three batters in order to end the nearly three hour game with a Washington victory.

The Huskies will now travel to Salt Lake City to play Utah in a three-game series starting this Thursday (May 7).
