Pac-12 Networks to televise 92 women's volleyball matchups in 2015

Defending Pac-12 Champion Stanford opens fourth season of live volleyball telecasts at home against Texas A&M Friday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m. PT

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (June 22, 2015) – The excitement of live Pac-12 volleyball returns to Pac-12 Networks Friday, August 28 for the fourth season and will feature 92 matchups with 14 NCAA Tournament qualifiers from 2014.

The action begins August 28 with a doubleheader as Pac-12 Champion Stanford hosts Texas A&M at 6:00 p.m. PT, followed by USC opening its season with a home matchup against North Carolina at 8:00 p.m. PT.

The first five weeks of Pac-12 Networks’ volleyball telecast slate is made up of nine matchups pitting six Conference squads against eight nonconference opponents – four of which were 2014 NCAA Tournament qualifying teams. The Trojans of USC square up against four nonconference squads beginning with the Tar Heels and followed by BYU August 29, regional rival Pepperdine September 10 and New Mexico September 11.

Throughout the fall, Pac-12 volleyball will headline the Networks’ primetime lineup on Wednesday and Friday, as well as Sunday’s afternoon schedule.

Each Pac-12 team will appear on the Networks at least 12 times (home or away) in 2015 with USC leading the way with 18 appearances. The schedule also includes Pac-12 rivalry week kicking off Conference play September 22-24, with Stanford, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Colorado hosting their regional rival. California, USC, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington and Utah return the favor to close out the season against their regional rivals November 25-28.

2015 has all the momentum to be another banner year for Pac-12 women’s volleyball. The 2014 edition bested the record nine teams earning NCAA Tournament bids set in 2013 with 10 participating in postseason play last year. Additionally, all 10 Pac-12 teams advanced to the second round, going a collective 10-0. Stanford once again led the ‘Pac,’ winning their 16th Pac-12 title and advancing to the national semifinal.

The Pac-12 returns an impressive 12 AVCA All-Americans to its squads in 2015, including a trio of Cardinal players – Inky Ajanaku, Madi Bugg and Jordan Burgess – who were first-team honorees. Washington, who finished second in the Pac-12 race, returns 2014 Pac-12 Libero of the Year Cassie Strickland, while Oregon State is shaping up to be the team to watch in 2015 with reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Mary-Kate Marshall and Pac-12 Coach of the Year Taras Liskevych.
