AIGUEBELETTE, France – Two more Huskies earned medals on Friday, Sep. 4, at the Senior World Championships, as Adrienne Martelli won a gold medal for the U.S. and current sophomore Viktor Pivac took bronze in the coxed pair for Serbia.

2010 graduate Martelli became the first Husky to win a gold medal at the 2015 World Championships when she and her American crew won the coxless women's four final. The U.S. jumped into the lead from the start and rowed ahead of the field the length of the race, winning in 6:25.22. Great Britain was second in 6:31.52, and China was third in 6:35.56.

Representing Serbia, Pivac combined with teammate Martin Mackovic to take third in the coxed pair with a time of 6:59.53. The Serbian crew was just two second behind second-place Germany. Great Britain won the gold medal in 6:51.31.

Pivac was part of the National Championship Freshman 8+ for the Huskies last year, part of a historic UW men's crew team that swept all five races at the IRA National Champions and won its fifth straight National Championship and ninth straight Ten Eyck trophy.

On Saturday, Megan Kalmoe will represent the U.S. in the women's quadruple sculls final, Patricia Obee will look to build off a first-place finish in her semifinal as she represents Canada in the women's lightweight double sculls final, Rob Gibson will also represent Canada in the men's quadruple sculls finals, and fellow Canadians Will Crothers and Conlin McCabe will compete in the men's coxless fours final.
