Washington's Run At The ITA Northwest Regionals Comes To A Close

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Huskies picked up a few more consolation wins as the ITA Northwest Regionals came to a close for Washington men's tennis on Sunday.

In both the singles and doubles consolation rounds, Washington went 4-2 on Sunday. Freshman Alexis Alvarez picked up a win in both singles and doubles.

The consolation singles quarterfinals featured a matchup between teammates Piers Foley and Sebastian Hawken. It was a hard-fought match between the two juniors. Foley took the win this time, earning a two-set win that both required tiebreakers, 7-6(3), 7-6(3).

Foley fell in his following match in the consolation semifinals against Zdenek Derkas. He lost in two close sets, 7-6(4), 6-4.

The round robin round of consolation singles saw Alvarez picking up a win in a three-set battle. He took down Lucas Marinelli 7-6(4), 1-6, 1-0(4). Kawika Lam lost his match in two, 6-2, 6-1.

The Huskies played two doubles matches in the consolation round robin round. The duo of Amit Batta and Jack davis won, 8-7(4), and Alvarez and Hawken was the victor in their match, 8-3.

There is one more day of the ITA Northwest Regionals, but for Washington the tournament is over. The last day is for the main draw competition.
