Mychal Kendricks And Eagles Reach Super Bowl LII

Cal Has Former Player On Super Bowl Roster For 16th Time In Last 17 Seasons

BERKELEY – For the 16th time in the last 17 seasons a former Cal player will be on a Super Bowl roster after Mychal Kendricks and Philadelphia defeated Minnesota in the NFC Championship Game, 38-7. The Eagles will face AFC champion New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII on February 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis (5:30 pm CT, NBC). The Patriots came from behind for a 24-20 win over Jacksonville to win the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Kendricks had a game-high eight tackles in the win over the Vikings with the seven points the Eagles allowed were the least by a team in an NFC Championship Game in 14 seasons when Carolina defeated the Eagles, 14-3, in January of 2004.

Kendricks will be playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in his sixth NFL season all with the Eagles.

Bryce Treggs is also a member of the Philadelphia practice squad.

C.J. Anderson was the most recent Cal player to win a Super Bowl when Denver defeated Carolina in Super Bowl 50 at Levi's® Stadium in Santa Clara. Alex Mack played for Atlanta in a Super Bowl loss to New England last season at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Cal started the NFL Playoffs with nine former players on active rosters of playoff teams and the beginning of the 2017 NFL season ranked second in the Pac-12 and tied for 13th nationally with 32 former Bears representing Cal as players on NFL rosters. The list at the end of the regular season included 31 former Cal players on 53-man NFL rosters and two others who ended the season as members of practice squads including Treggs, as well as three that coached in the NFL.
