SAN FRANCISCO - Colorado football head coach Karl Dorrell and Stanford Athletic Director Bernard Muir headline a brand-new installment of “Pac-12 Playlist,” presented by New York Life, airing tonight at 7 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.

Hosts Yogi Roth and Mike Yam talk with Dorrell about the conversations going on in the Buffs’ team meetings and how he and his team are taking action through peaceful protest. Dorrell also opens up about his own experiences with racism and the importance of empowering the next generation, especially his student-athletes, to create change.

“It was a step forward, I would say, in our program. I think it’s going to make us closer, it’s going to help us to understand each other a little bit better,” said Dorrell. “I think K.D. (Nixon), you interviewed him before, he’s been one of the guys that has really been a rock for everybody in our program. He’s been so positive, his message is about love, you know he uses that term quite a bit. Let’s just love on each other, let’s get along and do things for people… we wanted to show that we want to be a program of action, we want to get ourselves out there and show our support.”

Host Ashley Adamson sits down with Muir, who discusses the message he’s shared with his daughters about racism, and the importance of continuing the dialogue to pursue change.

“I think the proof is going to come in the next few weeks, the next few months - are we going to continue this dialogue?” said Muir. “I was on a conversation with our Black staff earlier this week, and coaches, and we said if we’re going to make a difference, we’ve got to continue this. I said to our student-athletes, this can’t be one and done, and so we’ve got to be having repeated conversations, we’ve got to think outside the box on how we can reach others. I’ve said this to all our coaches, not just our African-American ones, we can’t be afraid to have the dialogue. None of us know what to say in the moment, but we can’t shy away from conversation.”

Extended interviews with Dorrell and Muir are available now on the Pac-12 Perspective” podcast, presented by Nike, wherever fans get their podcasts. Additionally, former Arizona track & field All-American Percy Knox talks about diversity and his journey to the fashion world on today’s episode.
