SEATTLE – The seventh-seed Washington Huskies kicked off the Seattle Regional with a 10-2 run-rule victory on Friday night at Husky Softball Stadium.
Lindsay Lopez tossed her second complete game of the season for her 12th win overall. Lopez threw eight strikeouts with no walks allowed.
After two scoreless innings, the Huskies scored the first run of the contest off Baylee Klingler's 13th double of the season to bring around Brooklyn Carter for a 1-0 lead.
With one out in the fourth, SilentRain Espinoza drew a walk and Kinsey Fiedler came in to pinch run. Rylee Holtorf reached on an error that allowed Fiedler to come around and score from third while Holtorf advanced to third. A sacrifice fly by Sydney Stewart scored the second run of the inning. Klingler capped it off with her 12th home run of the season that hit off the Husky Eyes in center field.
Jadelyn Allchin led off the fifth with her fifth home of the year for a 6-0 advantage.
Northern Colorado added a pair of runs in the sixth to cut the Huskies' lead back to four. The Huskies answered right back with four runs to secure the run-rule victory.
The Huskies will face McNeese on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT. The game will air on ESPNU.
