Ben Carlson Garners CSC Academic All-District Honors

Mar 28, 2024

SALT LAKE CITY – Ben Carlson of the Utah men's basketball team was recently named to the CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District team the association announced.

Carlson, who is majoring in Entrepreneurship, currently owns a 3.616 cumulative GPA at the University of Utah and is in his second year with the Runnin' Utes.

The Woodbury, Minn., joins Brandon Taylor (2013-14) and Trace Caton (2002-03) as the only other Utes to earn CSC – formerly CoSIDA – Academic All-District honors since the turn of the century.

Carlson is 1-of-4 players from this year's squad to play all 36 games this season – which is tied for the most-games played in a single-season and will presumably break the single-season record along with teammates Cole Bajema, Hunter Erickson and Gabe Madsen when they face off against Indiana State in the NIT semifinal game inside Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., on Tuesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN.

Academic eligibility:

  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
  • The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
