Moran, Strunk Earn Pac-12 Awards

Apr 16, 2024

EUGENE, Ore. – Shelby Moran and Mason Strunk have swept Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Week honors, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office. These are the fourth and fifth weekly awards for the Ducks this season, and second-career selection for Strunk.

Moran tallied a season-best measure of 67.87m/222-8, also in the hammer at the Long Beach meet. She was second overall and finished as the top collegian in the field. She extended her lead in the league and currently ranks sixth in the NCAA.

The Sherwood, Ore., native is the reigning Pac-12 champion in the hammer.

Strunk recorded a lifetime best of 67.72m/222-2 in the hammer at the Beach Invitational, finishing sixth overall in the invitational section. With his outing, he moved up a spot to No. 7 on the program's top-10 list and improved his personal best by 15 inches. The Salem, Ore., native ranks third in the Pac-12 and is 20th nationally this season.

Coupled with the efforts in the hammer, the Ducks registered nine top-25 marks this past weekend. The UO women check in at No. 5 in the most recent USTFCCCA rankings, up a spot from last week.
