FRESNO, Calif. – Tatum Anzaldo recorded her 200th career hit and set a career best with four base knocks to lead the No. 20 California softball team past Fresno State on Wednesday at Margie Wright Diamond.

Haylei Archer put a zero on the scoreboard in 6.2 innings of relief and Acacia Anders came through with a go-ahead 2-run home run in the sixth to lead the Golden Bears (30-12). Keahilele Mattson went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Bulldogs (28-14).

Cal struck first before most of the fans were in their seats as Lagi Quiroga crushed the second pitch of the game well onto the grass in left field for her 11th long ball of the year. Leading 1-0 heading to the home half, the Bulldogs battled right back.

Back-to-back singles with one out followed by a 2-run double gave Fresno State the lead against Cal starter Randi Roelling. Another single and a walk loaded the bases as the Bears went to Haylei Archer, who got an RBI groundout and a flyout to end the frame with the score 3-1, Bulldogs.

Cal got within a run in the third when Anders drove in Anzaldo on a line drive up the middle to make the score 3-2 as Archer settled in with the game going to the fourth. The senior from Columbus, N.J. struck out three straight Bulldogs while working around two singles in the middle innings.

Archer put her fourth consecutive zero on the scoreboard in the fifth and Cal took advantage of it in the top of the sixth. Anzaldo recorded her third hit of the night and Anders followed with a 2-run bomb to right to give Cal a 4-3 advantage.

The Bulldogs got two runners on in the sixth, but Archer used a groundout to end the threat and retired Fresno State in order in the seventh to earn her eighth win of the year.
