Mt. SAC Relays Underway for Wildcats in California

WALNUT, Calif. – Arizona Track & Field participated in their first day of the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. The highly competitive meet features some of the top ranked teams in the nation. Five Wildcats competed on Thursday, with Jared O'Riley posting a top-three finish in the javelin.
 
TOP-THREE FINISHES
Jared O'Riley – Third, Men's Elite Javelin Invitational, 222-10 (67.93m)
 
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Jared O'Riley notched the first top-three finish of the week for the Wildcats. O'Riley placed third overall in the men's elite javelin invitational with a throw of 222-10 (67.93m). Jesse Avina ended in fifth place as well with a heave of 217-3 (66.23m).
 
The Wildcats kicked off the day with the women's collegiate javelin. In the event, freshman Aislin Martinez-Pompa posted a throw of 145-9 (44.44m) to place fourth overall. Freshman Emily Psarras also had a personal best throw on the day.
 
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
Cooper Quigley was the lone Wildcat to compete in a track event on the day. In the men's elite 3000m steeplechase invitational, Quigley clocked a personal best time of 9:10.04.
 
UP NEXT
The Mt. SAC Relays continue on Friday with a full day of running and field events beginning at 9:00 a.m. MST at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
