UCLA Earns At-Large Selection, Seeded Second for NCAA Beach VB Championship

The Bruins will face 15th-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (28-9) on Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. CT/11:00 a.m. PT.

INDIANAPOLIS -- No. 2 UCLA (32-6) has earned the number two-seed for the 2024 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship as announced by the NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. PT.

The Bruins will face 15th-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (28-9) on Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. CT/11:00 a.m. PT. The Islanders are the same team that the Bruins opened with a year ago in the 2023 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship. The Bruins won that dual, 3-0, without dropping a set when the match was called.

This is UCLA's eighth NCAA Championship appearance as the Bruins sport an overall record of 23-10 (.697) in NCAA Tournament play. The Bruins won back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2018 and 2019. UCLA also has two seconds- two thirds- and one fifth-place finish in NCAA Tournament history.

The NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee announced today the 17-team field for the 2024 NCAA Championship in a selection show streamed on NCAA.com.

Nine teams joined the tournament field as automatic qualifiers, along with eight teams selected at-large from all across the country. All 17 teams were then seeded.

The Pac-12 Conference received a record six bids into the 2024 NCAA Championship field.

The opening round of the championship will be held Friday, May 3 with the 16 and 17 seeds vying for a matchup with the top seed, USC. The remaining 16 seeds will face off in a single elimination bracket May 3-5. The first round will take place on May 3, the quarterfinals and semifinals on May 4 and the championship dual on May 5. The championship will take place in Gulf Shores, Ala., hosted by the City of Gulf Shores, University of Alabama at Birmingham and Gulf Shores | Orange Beach Sports and Event.

The event will be televised live by ESPN networks, with ESPNU providing live coverage on Friday, May 3 starting at 9 a.m. ET. Live coverage will continue Saturday, May 4 on ESPN2, starting at 10 a.m. ET and the championship dual on Sunday, May 5 at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN.
