Bears Host San Jose State To Begin Homestand

May 8, 2024
Cal returns home on Friday when it hosts San Jose State for a three-game nonconference series.

BERKELEY – The California baseball team begins a season-long seven-game homestand on Friday when San Jose State comes to Stu Gordon Stadium for a three-game nonconference series. The series begins Friday at 6:05 p.m. and will be televised on Pac-12 Bay Area with Ben Ross calling this weekend's action.

Cal (28-17) is coming off a strong weekend in Southern California where the Bears won the final two games to take the series from Pac-12 foe USC. Cal finished the regular season with a 10-8 record on the road - it is the second time the Bears have finished over .500 on the road under Mike Neu, with the last time being in 2019 when the Bears went 15-8 in road games en route to an NCAA regional appearance.

San Jose State (19-28) is coming off a 9-4 loss at San Francisco on Tuesday. The Spartans are in the midst of a six-game road trip and are 1-4. SJSU is 9-20 on the road this year.

    • Cal's 67 home runs are fourth in the Pac-12. Cal is also fourth in the Pac-12 at 1.49 home runs per game.
    • At their current pace, the Bears would finish the regular season with 72 home runs, which would be the eighth most in program history.
