Cougars Fall to USC in Series Rubber Game

PULLMAN, Wash. (May 12, 2024) – Washington State dropped the series rubber game with USC 10-3 at Bailey-Brayton Field Sunday afternoon.
 
The Cougars (21-29, 9-18 Pac-12) received three hits and two RBI from shortstop Kyle Russell while Joey Kramer and Casen Taggart each doubled. WSU left nine runners on base while the Trojans collected 12 hits.
 
USC (24-27, 14-12 Pac-12) clinched the series with runs in each of the first three innings and added three more in the sixth and two in the eighth.
 
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
USC built a 5-0 lead with two runs in the first, two more in the second and another in the third before Russell doubled off the right field wall to score two runs and make it a 5-2 game.
 
In the sixth, the Trojans pushed their lead to 8-2 with a three-rum homer before the Cougars picked up a run on a Jacob Morrow RBI-single into centerfield.
