USC Baseball Wins Mother's Day Matinee at Washington State, 10-3

PULLMAN, Wash. – The USC baseball team picked up a 10-3 victory over Washington State on Sunday in a Mother's Day matinee, taking the three-game series in the process.
 
The Trojans dropped the opening game in Pullman, only to come back and win the last two by a combined score of 19-7. USC moves to 24-27 overall and 14-12 in Pac-12 play with the win, while Washington State falls to 21-29 on the year and 9-18 in conference action.
 
The Trojans led from the start, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, and holding a 5-2 lead after three. Austin Overn stole second and Kevin Takeuchi scored on a throwing error on the play to open the scoring in the first, then Ethan Hedges drove in Overn. Dean Carpentier and Brayden Dowd recorded RBI in the second inning, and Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek drove in a run in the third.
 
Connor Clift busted the game open in the sixth inning, hitting a towering three-run shot to left field. Two more runs in the eighth gave USC 10 for the day.
 
William Watson had another strong start to pick up the win on the mound for the Trojans, tossing 5.1 innings and giving up three runs on four hits, with the third run coming in after he exited. Mason Edwards finished out the sixth and then Jared Feikes tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, before Josh Blum closed it out in the ninth.

COMING UP
