Marcus Mariota makes emotional exit at Autzen Stadium

Nov 22, 2014

In all likelihood, Marcus Mariota played his last game at Autzen Stadium.

The junior quarterback and likely first-round NFL draft pick went out on a high note. Oregon blew out Colorado 44-10 and Mariota finished the day with 323 passing yards, 73 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. The Heisman candidate wasn't needed for the entire game and ended up taking an emotional final snap early in the fourth quarter. Mariota was replaced on the field mid-series by backup Jeff Lockie while a sold-out crowd rose to its feet and cheered.

With one regular-season game still to play (next week's Civil War showdown vs. Oregon State) Mariota already holds school records for total offense, passing yards, completions, touchdown passes, total touchdowns and points accounted for. He's only the fifth player in FBS history to throw for over 9,000 yards and rush for over 2,000 yards in a career.

Whenever he leaves Eugene, he will be missed. Saturday's crowd made that clear as they possibly could.
