About the Pac-12

Teresa Gould was appointed Pac-12 Commissioner in February 2024 and began her tenure on March 1, 2024, becoming the first-ever female commissioner of an autonomy conference. Under her leadership, she continues to guide the league through a period of unprecedented transformation, including a comprehensive process to build a new Pac-12 upon the conference’s 100-year legacy. Set to launch in 2026-27, the new Pac-12 will include nine member universities in Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon State, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State and Washington State.

As part of the league’s transformation, Commissioner Gould has also overseen the evolution of Pac-12 Networks into Pac-12 Enterprises, a best-in-class broadcast-production company, as well as the procurement of a number of key long-term partnerships for the new Pac-12, including CBS Sports, The CW and USA Sports. In doing so, the league has ensured national visibility and maximum exposure for the brands, communities and student-athletes of the new Pac-12’s member universities, while leveraging its industry-leading broadcast production resources.

During her initial period as commissioner, prior to the departure of 10 previous member universities, Gould focused the league's efforts on providing a best-in-class experience for all Pac-12 student-athletes and its Pac-12 Networks’ efforts on fulfilling its obligations and continuing its high-standard of quality broadcast production and programming, both through the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

She first joined the Pac-12 in August 2018, bringing over three decades of leadership experience in Division I athletics. As deputy commissioner, she managed all conference sports, championships, and operations. She also oversaw the Pac-12 Student-Athlete Health and Well-Being Initiative (SAHWBI) and served as the conference's senior woman administrator.

Her extensive career includes senior leadership roles at the University of California, Davis, where she was Interim director of athletics, and at the University of California, Berkeley, as deputy director of athletics. Previously, she served as associate commissioner for the West Coast Conference and began her career in conference administration at the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. Her experience also includes conference coordination and media rights acquisition with ESPN Regional Television (formerly Creative Sports).

An influential voice in college sports, Gould has been appointed to multiple NCAA committees, including the NCAA Management Council (former name for the Division I Council), and is a former recipient of the WBCA’s Administrator of the Year honor. She serves on the board of directors for WeCOACH, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing women coaches, and the Institute for Sport and Social Justice.

Gould earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in Education from the University of California, Berkeley.
