TARZANA, Calif. – Uncharacteristic rain in Southern California shortened the first day of competition at the Bruin Wave Invitational for the California women's golf team.

California sits 53-over midway through the second round at the par-72 El Caballero Country Club Course that was rained on throughout the night and during today's opening rounds.

Washington is the team leader at 13-over before the completion of the second round.

Lucia Gutierrez leads the Bears at 7-over after 16 holes in the second round. Gutierrez shot a 1-over 73 in the first round, but as the rain began to pour and scores crept up, she finished at 19^th on the individual leaderboard with two holes remaining in the second round.

Hannah Suh sits 48^th while Marthe Wold and Carly Childs are tied for 54^th. Jo Ee Kok rounds out the California effort at 76^th.

The Bears continue the final round of competition Tuesday.

COURSE: El Caballero Country Club (par-72; 6,173 yards) – Tarzana, Calif.

FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
