COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO – Freshman Katherine Zhu continued the strong start to her debut campaign as she sits in a tie for third place after the first 36 holes at the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational on Monday.
 
Zhu started the day with a birdie on the par-3 sixth hole, the second hole she played. Zhu finished the first round with a 1-over 72 and followed it up with an even better second round. Zhu notched four of her six birdies in the second round and finished 2-under 69 for the round. She's amongst the leaders as the San Jose native is only three shots back of first place. She's also one of only six players to shoot under par across the first 36 holes.
 
The Bears are sitting in a tie for seventh after the first two rounds. Cal shot 296 across the first 18 and followed that up with a score of 289 in the second round. The Bears are right in the mix as they are only four shots back of second place and will have an opportunity to make up ground with the final round tomorrow.
 
Senior Amina Wolf recorded three birdies in the first round, but the highlight of the day came as she hit an eagle on the par-4 17^th hole. Wolf notched back-to-back 2-over 73 scores to finish the day 4-over. Wolf will enter the final round with a tie for 26^th.
 
Elena Arias rebounded from a tough start to finish the day 5-over 147 across the two rounds. Arias was 8-over after the first 10 holes of the day as she had a triple and a double bogey to her name. However, the freshman from Spain fought back, recording birdies on three straight holes and four out of five to finish the first round at 4-over. Arias followed that up with a 1-over 72 in the second round as she collected two birdies.

Marianne Li notched three birdies across the two rounds as she finished the first day 10-over 152 after back-to-back rounds of 76.
 
Cal will tee off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start for the third and final round of the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational.
