COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO – Cal women's golf moved up the leaderboard on the final day of competition to take fourth place at the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational on Monday.

Cal came into the day in a tie for seventh place after playing 36 holes on Monday. The Bears came out firing for the final round on Tuesday. They climbed three spots to finish in fourth as they had the second-best score of the day at 3-over. Cal finished 20-over 872 for the tournament.

Freshman Katherine Zhu was one of the instigators of the Bears' success as she finished in a tie for second place. Zhu entered the day in a tie for third, but shot par for the final round to move up a spot. Zhu hit three birdies on the day to bring her total to nine on the tournament. Zhu was 2-over after the first four holes, but she fought back with three birdies over the final nine holes and finished one shot off the leader.

"Our freshman our strong, this performance doesn't surprise me at all," head coach Nancy McDaniel said. "Katherine is a strong player who came in with good experience. She's done a great job for us in our first three competitions as we look to settle our lineup."

After mismarking her scorecard yesterday and getting her first round disqualified, Cindy Oh rebounded on Tuesday. The senior, who already has a top-five finish and a match-winning putt to her name this year, shot 2-under 69. Oh was even through the front nine as she tallied two birdies. However, the back nine produced three more birdies including two on her final two holes to help Cal move up the leaderboard.

"Cindy put together a really great rebound round after having a DQ in the first round," McDaniel said. "She had some adversity, but she was able to overcome that and was key in our performance today."

Amina Wolf finished in a tie for 32nd as she shot 4-over 75 in the final round to finish 8-over for the tournament. Wolf notched two birdies and shot par over the final nine holes after a tough start. The Bears' other freshman, Elena Arias, shot 4-over 75 on Tuesday. Arias finished in a tie for 40th at 9-over for the 54-holes.

Marianne Li played her best round of the fall so far as she shot 1-over 72 to move up 17 places in the individual standings. Li was consistent throughout the day as she hit par on 15 of the 18 holes while claiming one birdie. Li finished 11-over for the tournament.

Cal will return to action on October 19-21 as the Bears head to the Stanford Intercollegiate. Cal will head to Cardinal's home course in Palo Alto for the three-day affair.
