BERKELEY -- Cal women's golf heads to San Luis Obispo to make its 2019 spring season debut in the 10th Annual Bruin Wave Invitational. Cal looks to build upon its success in the fall, which concluded with a second-place finish at the Pac-12 Preview in November.
 
The Bears will take the course at San Luis Obispo Country Club on Feb. 25-26 and feature a lineup of Maria Herraez Galvez, Katherine Zhu, Sofia Lundell, Marianne Li, and Cindy Oh. Lundell, who did not compete in a stroke play event in the fall, will make her season debut as Cal looks to improve upon its 11^th-place finish at last year's Bruin Wave Invitational. The tournament is co-hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine.
 
Zhu, a freshman, recorded two top-5 finishes at the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational and the Pac-12 Preview. Zhu tied for second in Coeur D'Alene as she shot 1-under 212.
 
Oh closed the fall strong as she recorded three top-15 finishes. In the final tournament of the year, the senior tied the school record for shots under par in a round as she shot a 6-under 67 in the first round of the Pac-12 Preview. That concluded a fantastic fall that saw Oh hit the match-winning birdie in the second playoff hole of The Big Match to give the Bears the win over Stanford.  
 
Li is the top returning Bear from last year's Bruin Wave Invitational. The senior finished in a tie for 25^th as she shot 16-over 232. The last Bear to record a top-five finish at the Bruin Wave Invitational came in 2016 as Hannah Suh and Lucia Gutierrez both finished in a tie for fifth with a 1-over 217.
 
The Bears and their 14 opponents are set to play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The Bears will tee off of the first hole starting at 8:05 a.m. alongside Washington and Northwestern. Cal will compete against some of the top teams in the country, including no. 4 Stanford, no. 5 UCLA, no. 15 Northwestern, no. 17 Arizona State, no. 22 Pepperdine and no. 23 Washington.
