Bears Visit Hornets’ Nest
BERKELEY – Before its official home opener on Saturday, California (19-9, 1-2 Pac-12) will take a quick trip to Sacramento State for a midweek bout.
The Golden Bears hold a 67-21 series lead over the Hornets and look to extend it on Wednesday. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. (PT) start with live stream available, but viewers must use a Safari browser in order to watch.
Returning from Pac-12 play in Salt Lake City, the Bears began the week on a high note after pulling in its first conference win on Sunday with an 8-7 come-from-behind victory against Utah to prevent the sweep.
Bears Numbers
- Mikayla Coelho leads the Bears with seven home runs and her .550 on base percentage tops the Pac-12 list. Her 21 walks is also the most in the league
- Coelho's .408 batting average ranks sixth in the league and she tops the Cal ledger with 25 RBI
- Despite a tough weekend at the plate going 4-for-11, Lindsay Rood still paces the Pac-12 with a .485 batting average, which ties for 14th nationally
- Rood's 48 hits leads the nation and she and teammate Destiny Blueford co-lead the Pac-12 with four triples
- Cal's defense have held opponents to a .205 batting average, but have collectively batted .325
- Cal made a historic run with seven consecutive five-inning wins, believed to be a program record
vs. Sacramento State
- Last time out, Cal delivered a 4-0 win in Berkeley on May 2, 2018
- The Hornets are 15-12 and have not started their Big Sky slate yet
- Senior Nene Alas leads Sac State with 29 hits, 22 runs and a .354 hitting percentage
- Senior Savanna Corr holds things down in the circle with an 11-7 record and 1.97 ERA through 99.1 innings
- Collectively, the Hornets are batting .265 and have held opponents just under with a .240 average
