BERKELEY -- After the Cal track & field team split up for four separate competitions last weekend, the Bears will return to Edwards Stadium to compete in the annual Brutus Hamilton Challenge this weekend. Cal will play host to a handful of schools — highlighted by in-state foes UC Davis, San Jose State, and Santa Clara — and out-of-state visitors Nevada and New Mexico.

This will be the final home meet for director of track & field/cross country Tony Sandoval and 23 seniors. Kai Benedict, Silviu Bocancea, Tyler Brendel, Jackie Chandler, Garrett Corcoran, Rebecca Croft, Skyler Flora, Chrissy Glasmann, Stephanie Jenks, Bethan Knights, Andrew Lind, Kendall Mader, Lauren Martinez, Malik McMorris, Connor Meech, Ellis Newton, Takeshi Okada, Ryan Peck, Jack Phillips, Schantell Williams, Terence Wilson, Misana Viltz and Paul Zeiss will make their final appearance at home and be celebrated in a post-meet celebration at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Camryn Rogers is fresh off a school record hammer throw of 68.48m, set at last weekend's Beach Invitational in Long Beach. That throw set a Canadian U23 Record and topped the school record for the fifth time in her career. Rogers will be the lone Cal thrower competing in that event on Friday morning.

Paul Zeiss, one of the team's distance stars, established a new personal record in the 10,000m event at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance. Zeiss recorded the sixth-best 10K in school history and was amongst the top-10 in the country this past weekend with his mark of 29:23.12.

As a team, the Bears claimed the top mark in four of the Mt. SAC events, as Rebecca Croft (800m), Tuomas Kaukolathi (triple jump) and Jared Geredes (long jump) joined Jasher Foster (400m) with first-place finishes.

With a total of seven top-three finishes at Mt. SAC, there's plenty more in store this weekend for Cal in Sandoval's final home meet.

Festivities for the Brutus Hamilton Challenge kick off on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. with the men's hammer throw and conclude with the 5000m men's race at 3:45 p.m. Saturday's competition will commence at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up with a Senior Recognition Ceremony at 4 p.m.

After the Brutus Hamilton Challenge, the Bears will look towards the Pac-12 Championship in Tucson, Ariz. The postseason will start May 4-5 with the Pac-12 Multis Championship, followed by the Pac-12 Championship on May 11-12.
