SEATTLE –
A group of twenty Huskies are heading east this week to take part in the second installment of the National Relay Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville at John McDonnell Field. The competition will give some of UW's sprinters, jumpers, throwers, and mid-distance runners a chance to hit or improve on their West Prelim qualifying marks against some power conference competition.

Joining the Huskies in Arkansas will be the host Razorbacks, as well as Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU, and Texas.

The National Relay Championships will be streamed live on SEC Network+ Friday afternoon, and live on SEC Network during the two-hour relay only window on Saturday morning.

While relays are a major feature of the meet, there will be a full slate of open events on the track as well. Friday will see nearly all the Huskies competing in their individual events, while Saturday's focus will be the relays, where UW is entered in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays on both the men's and women's sides.

But starting things off in the only event on Thursday is senior Onyie Chibuogwu in the women's hammer throw. Chibuogwu is coming off a school record throw of 208-3 at the Beach Invitational just last week. She will also throw discus on Friday.

On Friday, another Husky thrower coming off a big PR will be the first to compete, as Elijah Mason goes in the discus at 9:30 a.m. Pacific time. Mason just became the first Husky to break into the school's discus top-10 list since 2007, as he threw 199-0 to also go to No. 7 in the NCAA this year. He'll be joined by sophomore Jonah Wilson, who will also put the shot on Saturday.

Also competing in the field events on Friday will be Denham Patricelli and Jacob Wachtendonk in the men's javelin at 2 p.m. Pacific, and then a pair of Husky pole vaulters: Chase Smith, and Annika Dayton. Redshirt freshman Ginny Mehl will be in the women's discus along with Chibuogwu starting at 12 noon.

Racing on Friday will first be Evan Mafilas and Jason Palmer in the 400-meters at 1:45 p.m. Pacific time. In the women's 400-meters, senior Imani Apostol will take a lap around the track.

At 2:15 p.m. it will be the men's 100-meters, with Jordan Lucas, Kemuel Santana, and Khalil Winfrey all in the field.

Devan Kirk and Connor Morello will look to improve their West Region standing in the 800-meters at 2:35 p.m.

Freshman Cass Elliott is slated to run the 400-meters hurdles at 2:55 followed 10 minutes later by the women's 400m hurdles which will have the trio of Morganne Hill, Carly Lester, and Darhian Mills, with Mills coming off a PR of 58.35 seconds last weekend.

Friday finishes with the 200-meter dashes starting at 3:35 p.m. and including Mafilas, Santana, and Winfrey for the men and Apostol for the women.

Saturday will feature the relay events, as well as additional field events. Jaylen Taylor is entered in the triple jump and Wilson will compete in the men's shot put.
