Dimitrios Klonaras Signs With Cal

Greek Standout Joins Men's Basketball's Incoming Freshman Class

BERKELEY – Greek standout Dimitrios Klonaras is the latest signee to bolster men's basketball's roster, the program announced Wednesday.

"Dimitrios has a versatile game and we welcome his skills to our perimeter group. His experience in high-level international play will also be an advantage for him as he transitions to the college game," said head coach Mark Fox.

The 6-5 guard from Thessaloniki, Greece signed a scholarship offer to become the Bears' second commit this month, adding international experience at the FIBA and club level to Cal's roster.

Klonaras helped lead Greece to the 2017 U16 FIBA Championship gold medal, pacing the team in assists and finishing second in points. He averaged 14 points and more than 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game to support Greece's undefeated record. Klonaras tallied double-figure outings in seven of the squad's eight wins.

He also competed with Thessaloniki's basketball club, PAOK BC, and attended the NBA's 2018 Basketball Without Borders European camp in Belgrade, Serbia.

Klonaras is the second commit under Fox, joining forward Kuany Kuany in Cal's latest group of signees. The duo boosts a class of incoming freshmen for the Bears that already includes Cal's November signees Joel Brown and D.J. Thorpe.
