Beavers Host UCLA for Nationally-Ranked Conference Matinee

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 24 Oregon State women's soccer team concludes its three-game home stretch, hosting No. 7 UCLA on Friday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. on Lorenz Field. For the first time since the 2012 season, the Beavers broke into the United Soccer Coaches poll and face their second nationally ranked opponent this season after defeating No. 7 Stanford, 2-1, on the road back on Sept. 24. Friday's match will be broadcasted on the Pac-12 Network and tickets are available for purchase ranging from $4-$6. 
 
Last Time Out
The Beavers opened their home stretch with a 2-1 victory over Arizona State on Oct. 7. The Sun Devils scored an own goal in the 18th minute of play that put the Beavers on the board. In the 19th minute, junior Brianna McReynolds found the net with an assist from freshman McKenna Martinez to score OSU's game-winner. 
 
On Oct. 10, Oregon State notched its fourth shutout of the season, downing Arizona, 2-0. Junior Sophie Conrad posted her third goal this season as she headed the ball in the net with an assist from senior Laura Galceran in the 11th minute of play off a Beaver corner. Sophomore Amber Jackson posted her fifth goal on the season in the 50th minute with an assist from McReynolds. Between the pipes, senior Bridgette Skiba notched three saves, recording her third solo shutout this season and 11th of her career. 
 
Last Time Against UCLA
Oregon State fell to No. 3 UCLA, 2-1, in overtime on Mar. 7, 2020, in Los Angeles, Calif. Sydney Studer found the net with assists from Madison Ellsworth and Kaillen Fried in the 66th minute. The Beavers' all-time record against the Bruins is 4-22-0. 
 
Scouting UCLA
UCLA is 11-0-2 (3-0-2 Pac-12) and totaled seven shutouts between Aug. 22 and Sept. 19. In Pac-12 play, the Bruins have marked home draws with Oregon (Sept. 24) and Utah (Oct. 7). UCLA edged past Arizona 2-1 (Sept. 30) and Arizona State 4-3 in overtime (Oct. 3), as well as Colorado 2-1 in overtime (Oct. 10) in Los Angeles, Calif. 
 
Junior Mia Fishel is the Bruins' leading scorer, tallying nine goals, four of which are game winners. Redshirt junior Madelyn Desiano leads UCLA in assists with eight. Between the pipes, Lauren Brzykcy has clocked 1141:53 minutes, earning 45 saves and allowing six goals. UCLA has scored 27 goals compared to seven scored by opponents. 
 
Last spring, UCLA went 13-1-3 (9-1-1 Pac-12). The Bruins went on a eight-match win-streak from Feb. 7 to Mar. 14. In the NCAA Tournament, UCLA defeated Iowa, 2-1, in the second round on April 30. The Bruins' season ended in Round of 16 on May 5 as they tied with Clemson, 1-1. The Tigers advanced off of penalty kicks, scoring six compared to UCLA's five.
