CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team hits the road one final time during the regular season, making stops in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Boulder, Colo., to take on Utah and Colorado. The Beavers' clash with Utah will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday and will be available via live stream. OSU will face Colorado at 11 a.m. on Sunday, with the match set to be broadcasted on the Pac-12 Network. Live stats will be available for both matches.
Last Time Out
The No. 24 Beavers saw its six-game home winning streak snapped after falling to No. 7 UCLA, 4-1, on Oct. 15 in Corvallis, Ore. The winning streak is the second best in program history at home since the 1993 season when OSU went 9-0 in Corvallis. Freshman McKenna Martinez scored Oregon State's sole goal, in the 88th minute off an assist from Bryana Pizarro. Martinez's goal marked her seventh of the season and first during Pac-12 play.
Last Time Against Utah
Oregon State faced Utah on April 4, defeating the Utes, 3-1 in Corvallis, Ore. Sydney Studer earned a hat trick, scoring all three of the Beavers' goals. The Beavers are 5-6-1 in their all-time series with the Utes.
Scouting Utah
Utah is 5-7-3 (0-4-2 Pac-12) and is coming off of a two loss streak, dropping contests to No. 11 USC (Oct. 10) and California (Oct. 15). The Utes earned shutouts over Northern Colorado (Aug. 29), Illinois State (Sept. 2), and Dixie State (Sept. 12), and have marked ties against No. 22 BYU (Sept. 9), Washington (Oct. 3), and No. 3 UCLA (Oct. 7).
Junior Courtney Talbot and sophomore Taliana Kaufusi are the Utes' leading scorers, with four goals apiece. Leading Utah in assists are sophomore McKenna Baillie and junior Kylee Geis, with two each. In goal, Chelsea Peterson has clocked 1381:07 minutes, tallying 62 saves and has allowed 20 goals. The Utes have scored 15 goals compared to 22 goals scored by opponents.
Last spring, Utah went 4-9-3 (3-6-2 Pac-12), posting wins over Dixie State (Feb. 11), No. 14 USC (Mar. 12), No. 17 Arizona State (April 9) and Arizona (April 11). The Utes earned draws against Weber State (Feb. 14), No. 15 Washington State (Feb. 26), and Oregon (April 2).
Last Time Against Colorado
The Beavers shutout Colorado, 2-0, on April 22 in Corvallis, Ore. After a scoreless first half, Mylene Gorzynski found the net in the 58th minute with an assist from Abby Schwartz. Shortly after, in the 65th minute, Kaillen Fried posted OSU's second goal with assists from Nicole Nickerson and Brianna McReynolds. Historically, the Beavers are 5-5-0 against the Buffaloes.
Scouting Colorado
Colorado is 6-6-2 (1-3-2 Pac-12) this season. The Buffaloes opened the season with a three-match winning streak from Aug. 14 - 25. In conference action, Colorado defeated Washington, 2-1, on Sept. 30 and has registered draws against California (Sept. 25) and No. 13 Stanford (Oct. 17).
Senior Shanade Hopcroft leads the Buffaloes in goals with five and assists with eight. Two of Hopcroft's goals were game-winners. Between the pipes, Dani Hansen has clocked 1143:07 minutes, earning 49 saves and has allowed 20 goals. Colorado stands even with its opponents in goals scored, with 23.
Last season, the Buffaloes went 9-6-2 (5-4-2 Pac-12). Colorado notched shutouts against Denver (Feb. 6), Northern Colorado (Feb. 11), Weber State (Feb. 20), Utah (Mar. 20), Oregon (April 4), and No. 17 Arizona State (April 11). In the NCAA tournament, the Buffaloes fell to South Alabama, 1-0, in the first round.
