Three Cougar Soccer Standouts Earn All-Pac-12 Honors

Nov 8, 2022

SAN FRANCISCO – Junior Margie Detrizio, senior Mykiaa Minniss, and freshman Lily Boyden earned 2022 Pac-12 All-Conference honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Detrizio garnered All-Pac-12 Second Team honors, while Minniss was named to the Pac-12 Third Team, and Boyden to the all-freshman team.

Detrizio led the Cougar offense in 2022 with a team-best 28 points and finished the year in the top-3 in the conference in points, goals, shots, and shots on target. The junior forward's team-high 11 goals tied for third in the Pac-12, while she led the conference in shots and shots on target. The Chandler, Ariz., native also finished with a team-high six assists, tied for sixth-most in the league. Detrizio's All-Pac-12 Second Team recognition is the first all-conference selection of her career.

Minniss picked up her fourth-career all-conference honor, earning Pac-12 Third Team credit as the veteran of WSU's defense. The fifth-year senior concluded her Coug career with her 92nd career start in the regular season finale, breaking the previous school record held by former teammate Sydney Pulver. Minniss started all 92 matches in her college career, finishing with over 8,300 minutes played, including a run to the 2019 College Cup as a sophomore.

In her time on the Palouse, Minniss earned All-Pac-12 honors in three-straight seasons and four total all-conference honors, including selection to the 2021 All-Pac-12 First Team. She becomes the first Cougar since now-NWSL star Morgan Weaver garnered all-conference recognition all four seasons from 2016-19.

Boyden garnered Pac-12 All-Freshman Team recognition, becoming the ninth WSU freshman in the last 10 seasons to earn all-freshman team honors. The Salt Lake City native found her groove in nonconference play, netting her first-career goal against Cal Poly, one game after tallying her first-career assist versus Denver. Boyden netted her first goal of conference play in the final game of the season against Washington. In total, she finished with two goals and three assists, making three starts as a freshman forward while appearing in 18 of 19 games.

The Cougars 2022 season concluded Nov. 4 in the final regular season match of the year against Washington. WSU now enters offseason workouts ahead of the 2023 spring season.
