STANDINGS | SCHEDULE | RECORD BOOK

SAN FRANCISCO - Pac-12 women’s gymnastics heads into week four with all eight squads set to compete in head-to-head duals as the Conference slate heats up. Week three saw wire-to-wire showdowns in the first round of league meets, while Oregon State swept its final non-conference quad meet and Utah squared off with top-ranked Oklahoma in a battle of unbeatens. The Conference’s depth was on display with seven Pac-12 squads continuing to sit in the top 25 of the Road To Nationals standings and all eight ranked in the top 28. Despite coming up short in Norman, Utah is the league’s highest ranked team at No. 4 and is one of three in the top 10 with UCLA at No. 6 and California at No. 7. This weekend’s action will kick off with No. 16 Oregon State hosting Rutgers in its last non-conference dual on Friday, Jan. 27, followed by No. 25 Washington visiting No. 4 Utah, No. 22 Stanford traveling the short distance to No. 7 Cal and No. 28 Arizona and No. 24 Arizona State facing off in an in-state clash in Tempe on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Beavers will bookend the weekend with a trip to No. 6 UCLA in their Conference opener on Sunday, Jan. 29. All four conference matchups will air live on Pac-12 Networks.

THIS WEEK

  • No. 16 Oregon State will look to carry momentum from last weekend’s quad meet win to its final non-conference matchup - a 6 p.m. PT dual against No. 34 Rutgers on Friday night at Gill Coliseum. This will be the second time the two schools are competing in the young season after the Beavers edged out the Scarlet Knights 195.450 - 194.700 in the second session of the Super 16 event in Las Vegas on opening weekend. The meet will be available to watch live online on OSU Live Stream.
  • No. 4 Utah will begin its league slate hosting No. 25 Washington at the Jon M. Huntsman Center Saturday at 1 p.m. MT/12 p.m. PT live on Pac-12 Networks. The Utes have won the last eight regular season duals meets between the programs, but the Huskies have stayed with the Utes as of late, dropping last year’s meet by just .675 and the 2020 meeting by just .075.
  • The weekend’s Bay Area battle will also feature a pair of unbeaten squads as No. 7 California (7-0) welcomes No. 22 Stanford (5-0) to Haas Pavilion on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT. Both teams are coming off narrow victories in their league openers with each hoping to keep its record unblemished. The Bears have been dominant in the series with Stanford looking for its first regular season dual meet win over its rival since 2014. The meet will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks.
  • Wrapping up Saturday’s Conference action is a 5 p.m. MT/4 p.m. PT showdown between No. 24 Arizona State and No. 28 Arizona at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe live on Pac-12 Arizona. The Sun Devils and Wildcats are eyeing their first league victory after each suffered close defeats last weekend to Stanford and Cal, respectively, by a combined .475 points. The Gym Devils have won five straight regular season Conference duals between the in-state foes dating back to 2017.
  • The Beavers will close out week four with their first conference dual action at No. 6 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion live on Pac-12 Networks at 3 p.m. PT. OSU will hope for a repeat of last year’s 2022 meeting when they beat the Bruins in the regular season for the first time since 2013. After taking fourth in their opening weekend session against a top-10 field at Super 16 in Las Vegas, the Bruins have gone 4-0 since, which included a win at No. 25 Washington in their Pac-12 opener last weekend.

WEEK THREE ROUNDUP

  • After a bit of a slow start in Las Vegas, No. 16 Oregon State has come out with back-to-back strong performances the last two weekends to shoot up the Road To Nationals standings. Behind Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week Jade Carey’s clean sweep of the all-around and individual events, the Beavers posted a season-high 197.200 to upset No. 8 Denver (196.725) and take down Brown (193.625) and Sacramento State (192.400).
  • No. 22 Stanford traveled to No. 25 Arizona State and needed a come-from-behind effort to pick up the Pac-12 win and move to 5-0 on the season. The Gym Devils held a .125 lead heading into the final rotation but the Cardinal turned in a season-best score on beam (49.250) to edge out ASU 196.225-196.050, its first dual meet over the Sun Devils since 2017.
  • No. 7 California’s visit to No. 28 Arizona last weekend also came down to the final rotation with the Bears recording their fifth-highest score (49.450) on beam in program history to seal the victory (196.400-196.100). The Gym Cats challenged the Bears as they posted their highest team score of the season, dropping the dual meet by just .300 points. Cal kept its mark perfect at 7-0 as it heads into its home opener next weekend.
  • No. 6 UCLA began its Conference slate in Seattle taking on No. 25 Washington and the Bruins showed why they are top 10 in the country, defeating the Huskies 196.900-195.825. It was the second straight week UCLA had topped UW after the two competed in the same session at the Wasatch Classic in Salt Lake City in both team’s last outing.
  • No. 4 Utah had a tough task as they headed to Norman to take on top-ranked Oklahoma. Despite coming up short 197.925-197.275, the Utes’ score kept them in the top five in the country through three weeks of competition. Highlighting the night was the 49.525 score on vault, which was a season-best for Utah.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Back-to-back Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week Jade Carey is the only gymnast this season to win all four event titles and the all-around in a meet this season. The Oregon State sophomore matched her career regular-season best of 39.825, which also ties her own mark for second-best all-round score in program history. Carey posted a 9.975 on vault and floor, a 9.950 on beam and a 9.925 on bars en route to the title sweep.
  • The Conference saw two gymnasts reach milestones over weekend three - UCLA’s Margzetta Frazier and Washington’s Amara Cunningham. Both have completed 100 consecutive career routines without a single fall during competition.
  • Utah’s 49.675 on beam at the Rio Tinto Best of Utah meet on Jan. 13 remains the best mark in the country on the event and the highest team score on any event in 2023.
  • No. 4 UCLA nabbed the first career win for first-time head coach Janelle McDonald on Jan. 14 as the Bruins impressed in the night session over Washington (196.550), Minnesota (196.325) and Boise State (195.050) at the Wasatch Classic in Salt Lake City. Winning all four events, UCLA’s 197.850 was its highest score on the road since 2019.

Carey was the first OSU gymnast to record a pair of perfect scores in a meet since former Beaver Chari Knight accomplished the feat in 1993, while the Olympic Gold Medalist is the only gymnast in the country this year to capture two 10s in the same meet.

It was Utah’s highest season-opening score since 2005 and the third-best in program history. The Utes improved to 62-6 all-time in season openers.
  • California kicked off its season with a historical performance, posting its best overall score in a season-opening meet in program history.
