Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Jared McAlvey, Jr., Washington State (Walla Walla, Wash.)

  • Won the men’s 400m hurdles at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz., with a time of 50.90, currently the top collegiate time in the nation.
  • Set a meet record in the event and achieved a lifetime-best time by over half of a second (51.59).
  • New personal best positions him just .01 seconds away from cracking Washington State’s top-10 all-time performance list in the 400m hurdles.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Alexa Rossum, Sr., Stanford (Atlanta, Ga.)

  • Won the women’s 200m competition at the Cardinal Classic with a meet-record time of 23.37. 
  • Her time is 10th-best in the nation this year and the No. 1 mark in the Pac-12 thus far.
  • Also ran the second leg on Stanford's winning 4x400m relay team, which ranks No. 7 in the nation outdoors and No. 1 in the Pac-12 at 3:39.11.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Jordan Geist, Sr., Arizona (Saxonburg, Pa.)

  • Won the men’s hammer throw competition at the Island Relays in Freeport, Bahamas with a lifetime-best mark of 73.94m (242-7).
  • His mark set a new program record in the event, surpassing Israel Oloyede’s previous record of 73.22m (240-3) set in May 2021.
  • Now the Arizona school record holder in the hammer and indoor and outdoor shot put.
  • Currently owns the top collegiate mark in the nation in the hammer by over four meters.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Amari Turner, Sr., California (Redondo Beach, Calif.)

  • Won the women’s pole vault competition at the Cardinal Classic with a lifetime-best clearance of 4.27m (14-00.00).
  • Set a new meet record and recorded the second-best pole vault mark in program history.
  • Her performance currently ranks No. 2 in the nation.
