PULLMAN, Wash.
Washington State women's volleyball Head Coach Jen Greeny andAssociate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Burdette Greeny officially announced last week the signing of transfer opposite hitter, Magdalena Juric, from CSU Northridge. Juric, a transfer from CSU Northridge, represents the final addition to the Cougars 2023 roster as WSU aims for an unprecedented, eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament later this fall.
Juric, a 6-4 right side from Zadar, Croatia, was a 2022 Big West All-Academic selection and signed with CSU Northridge after qualifying for the 2018 US Junior Nationals with the Mavericks Volleyball Club in California in which she led her team to a third-place finish. Juric played prep volleyball for Carnegie Schools in Riverside, Calif., and was a member of the 2017 U17 European Global Challenge while playing for her native Croatia.
Juric joins a talented crop of incoming freshman and transfers for Washington State with former All-Pac-12 outside hitter Iman Isanovicand setter Peyton Claus making the move to the Palouse prior to the start of the Spring 2023 semester. Graduate transfer Lana Radakovicbecame the first of the four summer signings for Washington State back in May, and was followed shortly after by signing announcements from former European Golden League champion, LucieBlaková,from the Czech Republic, as well as Emma Barbero, an Italian Serie A1 Champion in 2022 and world class libero during hertime at the junior national level.
Washington Stateis set to face a total of four teamsNo. 1 Texas, No. 2 Louisville, No. 6 Stanford, and No. 7 Oregonto finish 2022 inside the top-10 of the final AVCA Coaches'Poll and will host a pair of home tournaments highlighted by a Sept. 8 matchup with BYU.
The Cougars open the fall campaign with the first trip in program history to Louisville, Ky., wherethey begin the season on Friday, Aug. 25, against Wright State, the first of six NCAA Tournament teams from last season on the 2023 schedule. The Cougswillsee anearly-season, elite test against national runner-up from last year, Louisville, on Saturday, Aug. 26.
New renovations to BohlerGym including the brand new, Teraflex playing surface on Marcia Saneholtz Court, will see its first match action in the Cougars' home opener on Friday, Sept. 1, against Northwestern State.
