Reviewing Week 5 of Conference Play

  • Following the fifth week of Pac-12 action, No. 1 UCLA (15-1-0, 7-1-0) and No. 7 STANFORD (14-2-1, 7-1-0) remain tied at the top of the table with three matches remaining.
  • The Bruins scored a weekend-high nine goals in their ninth and tenth shutouts of the season at COLORADO (6-0) and UTAH (3-0). UCLA is second in the nation in winning percentage (.938) and second in scoring offense (3.06).
  • STANFORD also went 2-0, completing two shutouts against OREGON (1-0) and OREGON STATE (3-0) to run its winning streak to seven. The Cardinal is second in the conference in goals (43), points (117), and goals against average (.588).
  • ARIZONA (6-6-3, 3-4-1) had its second unbeaten weekend of the season in Washington, beating the Huskies in Seattle for the first time since 2005, 1-0. The Cats finished the weekend with a scoreless draw against WASHINGTON STATE (8-4-4, 2-3-3).
  • ARIZONA STATE (7-4-3, 3-4-1), No. 25 CALIFORNIA (9-4-4, 4-3-1) and WASHINGTON (9-4-3, 3-4-1) each had one win last weekend.

Top Performers

  • No. 7 STANFORDs Jasmine Aikey had her first career multi-goal performance on Sunday, scoring a hat trick to help STANFORD to its 3-0 victory over OREGON STATE. The freshman's performance, which earned her a Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor and a spot on Top Drawer Soccers Team of the Week , pushed the Cardinal to 11th in the nation in scoring offense (2.53)
  • With a goal from ARIZONA junior Jordan Hall , the Wildcats were able to secure their first victory over the Huskies since 2018 and their first win in Seattle in more than 17 years (Oct. 14, 2005). Halls score in the 26th minute, paired with Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the week Hope Hisey s seven saves, helped ARIZONA secure the victory.
  • Hisey earned her third career and seasonal Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week award after her double shutouts. After adding two shutouts and seven saves to her tally, she has the second-most shutouts in program history (20) and is fourth in the Conference in both total saves (56) and save percentage (.812).
  • As part of OREGONs (4-6-6, 2-4-2) 0-1-1 weekend, goalkeeper Leah Freeman became the third Duck in program history to record 100 saves in a single season. Freeman now ranks first in the Conference in saves (102) and save percentage (.857). Nationally, she ranks sixth in saves and ninth in saves per game (6.80).

Continuing Conference Play

  • Heading into the second-to-last week of the regular season, Conference play will be highlighted by 12 matches with nine televised across the Pac-12 Networks.
  • Two top goalkeepers, OREGONs Leah Freeman and ARIZONAs Hope Hisey , will meet in Tucson on Sunday, Oct. 30 at noon PT. Hisey enters the match with six shutouts this season, while Freeman tops the league in saves and save percentage.
  • COLORADO (8-5-4, 2-4-2) and UTAH (6-6-4, 2-4-2) will be heading to Northern California to take on No. 7 STANFORD and No. 25 CALIFORNIA in the final weekend before rivalry matches begin. All four matches on both Thursday and Sunday will be televised on various Pac-12 Networks (Pac-12 Network; Pac-12; Pac-12 Bay Area; Pac-12 Mountain).
  • With No. 1 UCLA and No. 7 STANFORD both with 21 points through eight Pac-12 matches, their weekends are essential to determining the Conference champion. UCLA will host the WASHINGTON schools, with the Bruins taking on WASHINGTON STATE on Thursday Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m. PT and WASHINGTON on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT.
  • Thursday will have five televised matches, including ones in Berkeley and Stanford (Pac-12 Networks) as well as No. 18 USCs (9-2-3, 5-1-2) hosting of WASHINGTON at 1 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Networks), ARIZONA hosting of OREGON STATE (4-9-3, 0-7-1) noon PT (Pac-12 Insider) and UCLA hosting of WASHINGTON STATE 6 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Networks).
  • Sunday will have another four additional televised matches when COLORADO takes on STANFORD (Pac-12 Bay Area), ARIZONA STATE takes on WASHINGTON STATE (Pac-12 Networks), WASHINGTON takes on UCLA (Pac-12 Networks) and UTAH takes on CALIFORNIA (Pac-12 Mountain).

RPI Watch

  • UCLA moved back to the top of the NCAA Womens Soccer RPI Report after its undefeated weekend.
  • 11 of the Conferences 12 programs currently sit within the top 60, the most of the season, and are one of two leagues to have 11 teams ranked in the top 60.
  • By virtue of its 2-0 weekend against OREGON and OREGON STATE, STANFORD continues to climb, and is now No. 10 in the RPI.
  • ARIZONA, which is unbeaten in its last three games, is amongst Conference programs seeing their highest rank, coming in at No. 39.
  • ARIZONA STATE (19), USC (33), CALIFORNIA (38), OREGON (43), WASHINGTON STATE (49), WASHINGTON (51), COLORADO (54) and UTAH (57) round out the league's programs remaining in the top 60.

Power Four in the Rankings

  • UCLA remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the country according to the United Soccer Coaches rankings .
  • STANFORD is also in the top 10, No. 7 for the second week in a row.
  • Despite two losses, USC stayed in the top 20, moving down only three spots from last week to No. 18.
  • CALIFORNIA rounds out United Soccer Coaches poll in 25th.
