FORT WORTH, Texas
Oregon State's NCAA Championships individual all-around qualifier, Jade Carey, dazzled the afternoon session in her final routines of her remarkable, record-setting season. The Olympic gold medalist turned in the highest score of the session, a 39.650, which eventually placed fourth overall.
In 2022, Carey had only three routines below a 9.90 which were also above a 9.85 in a total of 48 routines. She won 47 individual event titles, including 11 all-aroundand holds nine of the top-10 Oregon State all-around scores. Carey scored a career-best at the NCAA regionals with an astonishing 39.850.
The five-time Regular-Season All American earned NCAA National All-America honors in the all-around, bars and floor.
The Pac-12 Gymnast and Freshman of the Year began her day on vault as her Yurchenko double full produced a 9.8875, which was the second highest score after the first rotation.
On bars, Carey scored a massive 9.950, which tied her with Oklahoma's Audrey Davis for first after the session.The score was eventually passed up in the night session when all-around champion Trinity Thomas posted a 9.975.
In the third rotation, the WCGA Region One Gymnast of the Year scored another impressive routine with a rock-solid beam, earning a 9.900.
The reigning 2020 Tokyo Olympics Floor Champion fittingly concluded the day on floor and collected a 9.9125.
