CORVALLIS, Ore.
The 12th-ranked Oregon State football team used a season-high 598 yards to defeat Stanford by a 62-17 score on Saturday night.
Four first half touchdown runs by Damien Martinez from 7, 59, 15 and 5 yards helped propel a humming Oregon State offense to the resounding victory over the Cardinal. Deshaun Fenwick and Aidan Chiles also added scores on the ground while DJ Uiagalelei tossed two scores and threw for 240 yards.
Calvin Hart Jr. led the defense with 7.0 total tackles with a trio of solo stops and 2.5 tackles for loss. Akili Arnold and Easton Mascarenas-Arnold each tallied six stops while Kitan Oladapo had a team-best two interceptions. Andrew Chatfield helped the effort with an interception and forced a Cardinal fumble.
Scoring nine touchdowns on their 13 drives and punting just twice, the Beavers churned through the Cardinal defense with 8.8 yards per play and moved the chains 29 times. When Stanford cut the Beavs' lead to 14-7 toward the end of the opening quarter, Oregon State erupted for 41 of the game's next 44 points for a sizable advantage.
Wasting little time to make a statement, OSU used a pair of Martinez runs for the endzone from seven and 59 yards, respectively to jump out to a 14-0 after Atticus Sappington PATs. Countering the Cardinal's score, Martinez's 15-yard score and a Jermaine Terry II reception from Uiagalelei gave the home team a 21-point advantage. A fourth touchdown by Martinez closed the half's scoring with a 34-10 lead for the Beavers.
Second half scores from Fenwick, Chiles, and Riley Sharp helped end things at 62-17.
Oregon State will finish the season's home slate next Saturday when they will welcome Washington to Reser Stadium. The action is slated for a 4:30 p.m. kick and can be seen nationally on ABC.
