CORVALLIS
The Oregon State women's soccer team is welcoming an outstanding signing class to the program, head coach Lauren Sinacola announced Wednesday.
The seven-player class includes Ellie Felt, Jordan Fjelstad, Sydney Head, Ari Hill, Zoe House, Shea Ryan, and Hayden Wilson.
"We are very excited about our incoming 2024 class," Sinacola said. "They are a talented group that will fit right into our competitive environment and even help turn it up a notch! Each player brings something different to the field and all of them are great people who are committed to continuing the growth of our program. We believe we have put together the best group of players to join our returners to help make the 2024 Fall season for Oregon State Women's soccer something special and one to remember."
Sydney Head Goalkeeper Pleasanton, Calif.
Sydney Head joins the Oregon State program out of Amador Valley High School, and played club soccer for Pleasanton Rage. She took part in the Continental Tires ECNL Selection Game in the fall of 2023, and has been the RAGE's team captain for the last six seasons. Head was a four-year varsity player at Amador Valley, and was the only freshman to make varsity in 2020-21.
"Sydney is a great shot stopper with a high soccer IQ," Sinacola said. "A strong leader, both and on off the field, Syd is a team player that will continue to develop and positively influence the growth of this program. We are confident Sydney will fit right into our goalkeeping unit and can't wait for her to get started."
Off the field, Head is currently serving as student body treasurer, and earned the Community of Character Responsibility Award from the Pleasanton School District.
"I chose Oregon State for the program Coach Sinacola is building," Head said. "I want to be part of the growth and future of Oregon State women's soccer. I instantly connected with this coaching staff, and I can't wait to spend my next four years in Corvallis."
Ari Hill Forward Sumner, Wash.
Ari Hill comes to the Beavers after playing for Sumner High School and Crossfire 06 ECNL. She was the 2022 4A South Puget Sound League Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, after leading the league in goals scored. Hill was a First Team All-State honoree, and was selected as the News Tribune Player of the Year.
"Ari is a fast, dynamic attacking player," Sinacola said. "She will run at defenders and always finds ways to create dangerous opportunities in the attacking third. A competitor with a high work rate, we believe Ari can make an impact in a couple different positions. We are excited to add a dynamic player like Ari to our roster in the fall."
Hill was an honor roll selection, and hopes to eventually work in the sports medicine field after her playing career is over.
"I chose Oregon State because it introduced me to a new place away from home while still giving me the feeling of being home," Hill said. "The culture the coaches showed, convinced me that this was my dream school. I believe the academic opportunities will prepare me for an engaging career I will excel in."
Ellie Felt Midfielder Portland, Ore.
Ellie Felt will make her way to Oregon State from Sunset High School, and played for the Portland Thorns Academy. She was the 2022-23 Gatorade Player of the Year in Oregon, and a two-time USCA All-American. Felt earned 6A High School Player of the Year recognition in 2022-23, and has trained with the Portland Thorns professional team, as well as the FC Bayern Youth Academy.
"Ellie is extremely comfortable on the ball, has the ability to get away from defenders, she can assist in the build as well as score goals and create in the final third," Sinacola said. "Ellie is a very a talented soccer player that is committed to her own development just as much as she is committed to the growth and success of our Oregon State Women's Soccer Program. Ellie is starting with our team in January, and we couldn't be more excited."
Felt was selected to participate in the eleventh annual High School All-America Game in 2023, and was the 2022-23 Metro High School Player of the Year.
"I chose Oregon State for the amazing coaching staff and their ability to push and develop players at the highest level," Felt said. "I love the work ethic and tenacity of the team. I appreciate that Oregon State offers a wide variety of unique majors, and I really fell in love with the campus."
Jordan Fjelstad Defender Coto de Caza, Calif.
Jordan Fjelstad joins the Beavers from Tesoro High School, and played club soccer for San Diego Surf ECNL and Strikers FC ECNL. She was a State Cup Champion in 2015 and lettered her freshman and sophomore years. Fjelstad was also an all-conference selection.
"Jordan will add to our competitive edge," Sinacola said. "She can play anywhere in the backline and stood out as a strong defender that is confident in her ability to join the attack. Jordan is very talented, has a love for being challenged and has the work ethic to confidently attack those challenges. I am excited to see the impact Jordan makes and how quickly she is able to do so."
Off the field, Fjelstad enjoys roller skating, fashion and arts and crafts.
"I chose Oregon State because I fell in love with the school," Fjelstad said. "The Beavers have an amazing coaching staff and a great soccer program."
Zoe House Defender Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Zoe House joins the Beavers out of Highlands Ranch, Colo. Where she attended Valor Christian High School. She was a Second Team Colorado 5A All-State selection, and played her club soccer for Real Colorado 06 ECNL National.
"Zoe joined our 2024 class not too long ago, and we couldn't be more excited about the late addition," Sinacola said. "Zoe is fast and can get up and down the field. She is a defender that has the ability to match up and shut down dynamic attacking players. I could see her playing a couple different positions and I look forward to getting started so we can find the position where she will make the best impact!"
House enjoys charcoal painting, cooking and reaching.
"I chose Oregon State because of the faith the coaches have continuously shown in me," House said. "I enjoyed the environment of the team, and the relationships the players have with each other and with the coaches. What Oregon State is able to offer in terms of my future and my career path is exceptional."
Hayden Wilson Defender Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Hayden Wilson comes to the Beavers from Rancho Cucamonga High School and played club ball for Rebels IE. She was a First Team All-Baseline League selection her junior season, and has also been named Defensive MVP. Wilson's Club was a 2023 US Club Soccer National finalist and a 2023 Surf Cup finalist.
"Hayden has the potential to be a very impactful defender throughout her career," Sinacola said. "She is fast, has height, and has the work rate that will allow her to develop and improve each year. Hayden will add to the depth of our defensive unit and I believe has the ability to be a strong leader in our backline down the road."
Off the field, Wilson is her student body secretary, and is in the top seven percent of her class academically. She is an avid golfer and played her freshman year as part of her high school's boys golf team.
"I chose Oregon State because I love the lively atmosphere and the strong school spirit," Wilson said. "The campus is beautiful, and the people are dedicated to the community. The coaching staff and culture of the program are exactly what I want in a team, and I am beyond excited for my next four years at Oregon State."
Shea Ryan Forward Roseville, Calif.
Shea Ryan attended Granite Bay High School and played club soccer for San Juan 06/05 ECNL.
"Shea is a forward that will add to our attacking third both offensively and defensively," Sinacola said. "She has an outstanding work rate and has proven to be a forward that will relentlessly defend and sell out to get the ball in the back of the net. Shea trains like a professional and takes care of herself in a way to where I am confident she will continue to improve and make an impact during her time here as a Beaver."
Once she gets to Oregon State, Ryan intends to vlog her entire collegiate experience. She enjoys gymnastics and videography.
"I chose Oregon State for the environment," Ryan said. "Everywhere I went on campus I felt like I belonged. I feel that Oregon State can help me achieve my goals."
