By: Pac-12 Conference

Maximo Renteria, R-Sr., Oregon State (Clovis, Calif.)

For the first time this season, an Oregon State grappler has been named Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week. Maximo Renteriia becomes the first Beaver to take home this honor since Ethan Stiles won it for the 3rd time last year in the final week of the regular season (Feb. 25).

Renteria went 4-1 and captured second place in the 125-pound weight class at the Cliff Keen Invitational. He started with four consecutive decisions, then lost in the finals match at the Invite. Three of his four wins came against a ranked foe. He defeated No. 11 Nico Provo of Stanford, No. 27 Richard Castro-Sandoval of CSUB and No. 32 Marcello Milani from Cornell. His lone loss was to No. 13 Jett Strickenberger from West Virginia, and it came on an 8-6 decision. Renteria, ranked 15th by Intermat coming into the event, improved to 12-1 on the year, with a 5-1 record in bouts decided by decisions.
