Highlights: Shareef O'Neal has big day on anniversary of heart surgery, but UCLA men's basketball falls to Notre Dame

Playing on the one-year anniversary of his heart surgery, Shareef O'Neal nearly notched a double-double for UCLA men's basketball. Last December, O'Neal needed surgery after a heart condition left him unable to compete. But he is back on the court now and putting up big numbers, with 11 rebounds and eight points in Saturday's effort. Unfortunately, it was not enough to lift the Bruins who fell to Notre Dame 75-61 in South Bend. The loss drops UCLA to 7-3 on the season. The Bruins will face another stiff test next Saturday, when they travel to Chapel Hill to take on No. 17 UNC.

Arizona State baseball beat UC San Diego 19-8 in seven innings at Phoenix Muni Stadium in Phoenix, Ariz. Five different Sun Devils hit home runs including Kien Vu, who finished the game with three hits and four RBIs. Arizona State has won seven of its last eight games.
