Oregon State men's soccer's Joel Walker is the Beavers' 2021-22 male Tom Hansen Medal winner. A current MBA candidate and undergraduate degree recipient in marketing, Walker was a 2021 Senior CLASS All-American, one of 10 finalists for the award, the 2020 Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, three-time Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll recipient (2019-21), and 2018 First Team All-Academic in men’s soccer. On the pitch, Walker was a 2019 First Team All-Pac-12 performer with six goals and four assists during junior season. He helped Oregon State to 49 wins and three NCAA Tournament appearances during five seasons. Walker was also the 2020-21 Oregon State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president, a co-founder of the "Dam Change" initiative and heavily involved with the "Dam Worth It" initiative.
