California, Washington represent Pac-12 in NCAA quarterfinals

Two Pac-12 men’s soccer teams have advanced to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals and will compete in the round of eight beginning Saturday, Dec. 7 at regional sites ... Second-seeded WASHINGTON will see their first national quarterfinal in school history after defeating Pac-12 opponent Stanford, 1-0, to advance. The Huskies will host No. 7 New Mexico on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT on their home turf in Seattle, Wash. ... CALIFORNIA, which is seeded fourth overall, won over Coastal Carolina to earn its quarterfinal berth. The Golden Bears also host their next match, facing No. 5 Maryland in Berkeley on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT. Cal toppled Maryland earlier this season, winning over the then-No. 2 Terrapins 3-2 in overtime ... Top-seeded UCLA fell in an upset in the third round, with Connecticut holding the Bruins 3-3 then advancing on penalty kicks.
