NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Arizona softball senior pitcher Estela Piñon was selected fourth overall by the Chicago Bandits in the 2014 NPF Draft, held in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn. on Monday.

Piñon became Arizona's highest draft pick since Jackie Coburn was selected second overall in the 2005 draft. The senior joins Taryne Mowatt (2008), Kristie Fox (2007), Alicia Hollowell (2006), Coburn (2005) and Mackenzie Vandergeest (2004) in Arizona's long line of first round draft picks in the NPF Draft.

The senior is 10-5 this season with a 1.51 ERA in 15 appearances. Piñon has struck out 76 batters in 79 innings pitched this season and has limited opposing batters to a .178 average.

The NPF season runs from May to August; Piñon will be eligible to sign with the Bandits upon the expiration of her collegiate eligibility.
