Connor Halliday sets FBS single-game passing record

Oct 5, 2014

It hurts that it comes in a loss. Cougars quarterback Connor Halliday probably won't be able to savor his FBS single-game record of 734 passing yards in Washington State’s 60-59 loss to Cal that aired on Pac-12 Networks.

There were too many highlights to choose from, so we’ll boil it down to three: Halliday’s 90-yard hookup with Vince Mayle for the game’s opening score, his 85-yard connection with River Cracraft to put the Cougs up 31-27 and the 14-yard pass to Calvin Green that put Halliday at 717 yards. The pass to Green broke the previous FBS record of 716 passing yards set by Houston’s David Klingler against Arizona State in 1990.

Halliday finished the evening connecting on 49-of-70 attempts for the aforementioned 734 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. I’m sure he’s upset about the loss, but what a performance.
