Kendal Thompson replaces Travis Wilson, Utah upsets UCLA

Oct 4, 2014

Welcome to the Pac-12, Kendal Thompson. After a couple of fruitless possessions with starter Travis Wilson, Utah elected to go with the Oklahoma transfer at quarterback. The move paid off early when Thompson connected with Dres Anderson on a 42-yard rainbow for a touchdown.

Thompson completed his first eight passes of the evening and finished 10-for-13 for 95 yards and that touchdown pass. He didn't force any throws and was very effective on his feet, rushing for 83 yards on 19 carries as Utah upset No. 8 UCLA, 30-28.

This game also held special meaning for Anderson, whose father and uncle played at UCLA. This quote from that Los Angeles Times article from Flipper Anderson, Dres’ dad, seems prescient right about now: “I think UCLA really has a chance to make it to the playoff, and I feel bad that my son is about to wreck it for them.”
