Is there a battlefield next to the Rose Bowl? Ty Burrell seems to think so.

The dedicated Oregon fan and star of ABC sitcom 'Modern Family' stopped by for a pregame chat with Pac-12 Networks' Jill Savage before Thursday's Rose Bowl matchup between the No. 2 Ducks and No. 3 Florida State, when he was caught off-guard by some fireworks. But the Hollywood star kept his cool while giving his take on the inaugural College Football Playoff semifinal.

"Hopefully the war that's being waged right next door won't impinge on the game," Burrell said.

Burrell may have graduated from Penn State, but the actor said many members of his family have attended the University of Oregon over the years.
