TUCSON – Seniors Chelsea Goodacre and Kellie Fox and sophomore Katiyana Mauga were named NFCA All-Americans, the association announced Wednesday. Goodacre earned second-team honors while Fox and Mauga were named to the third team.

It is Fox’s second consecutive season as an All-American while Goodacre and Mauga are receiving the citation for the first time. Goodacre and Mauga became Arizona’s 53rd and 54th All-Americans in program history.

Goodacre led the NCAA with 86 RBI while her 24 home runs were tied for fifth nationally. The senior hit .335 while starting all 61 games at catcher for Arizona. Goodacre was second on the team with a .790 slugging percentage. The Temecula, Calif., native ended her career with 71 home runs and 240 RBI, fifth and tied for seventh in Arizona history. 

Fox led the team with a .400 average in 61 starts at shortstop in 2015. The senior hit 10 doubles, four triples and was third on the team with 15 home runs. Fox, a third-team All-American in 2014, a season in which she won the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, drove in 66 runs and slugged .741, both third on the team.

Mauga was the top home run hitter in the Pac-12 in 2015, as her 26 long balls paced the conference after she finished second in 2014 and was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Mauga, making her first appearance as an All-American, is the first Arizona underclassman to receive recognition since Kenzie Fowler and Brigette Del Ponte were All-Americans as sophomore in 2011. Mauga hit .350 in 60 starts in right field and led the team with an .819 slugging percentage. The sophomore’s 76 RBI tied for sixth in the country while her 26 home runs were third most in the NCAA.

All three players were significant parts of an offense that ranked fourth in the NCAA in home runs (104), fifth in batting average (.351) and eighth in scoring (7.56 runs/game).

The Wildcats were one of 12 teams with multiple selections on the list and one of nine schools with three or more. It marked the 19th season that Arizona has had three or more All-Americans, and first since 2011.

Arizona now has a staggering 95 All-America citations, 94 of which have come under head coach Mike Candrea.

Wilson and Fox return to lead a stellar senior class in 2015, one which will additionally include all-conference catcher Chelsea Goodacre.
