TUCSON, Ariz. – The 6-2 Arizona men's tennis team will compete against Fresno State on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m. MST and Loyola Marymount University the following day at 1 p.m. MST. These away matches are the first of many, as the Cats aren't scheduled to play inside of LaNelle Robson again until April 7th.
"It's good to get back on the road again and be together as a group," said head coach
Clancy Shields. "We have two tough opponents this weekend, so we will have to play well to come out on top. Both Teams got us last year in Tucson, so hopefully our guys will play with a chip on their shoulder and are hungry to get two road wins."
Fresno State, coached by Shields' older brother, Luke Shields, is currently 3-4 on the season with wins coming against Saint Mary's, George Fox University, and Nebraska University. The last time the Wildcats and Bulldogs competed, the Bulldogs beat Arizona in LaNelle Robson (March 2016) by a score of 6-1.
Loyola Marymount is 2-4 on the season with victories over Yale and Army West Point, and will face Fresno State a day before taking on Arizona. The last time these two teams met was in Tucson where the Lions topped Arizona in a close, 3-4 match.
Both matches will be played inside of the LMU Tennis Center. Live scoring will not be available for Arizona's match against Fresno State, but live stats for Sunday's match against LMU can be found
